On the Top


I walk through this world, every day, every night 
It seems to me like a hopeless fight
I got no hope, can't see no light 
When will I ever again feel alright?
 

But now we climb, higher and higher
Let all the trouble behind
 

On the top is where I want to stay
On the top there I know what to do and say
It is good to be here in the presence of God
There is peace and love and happiness ... on the top
 

It's been so long since I had this feeling
So long without the touch of his love
I just forgot that his hands are healing
When I left the road got more and more rough
 

And all the time that I felt abused
Kicked around and being used
I know that you're hand was holding me tight
Till I left the darkness and crawled back to the light

Anmerkungen:

Diese Lied wurde speziell für eine Jugendveranstaltung mit dem Namen "On Top with God" geschrieben. Es ist angelehnt an die Begebenheit, wo Jesus mit Petrus, Jakobus und Johannes auf einen Berg steigt und dort Elia und Mose trifft. Diese Begegnung und die spürbare Gegenwart Gottes hat Petrus zu dem Ausruf veranlaßt: "Hier ist gut sein, laßt uns Hütten bauen." (Luther).
